For optimal results, we recommend following accepted architectural/engineering practices for joint design, ensuring a minimum joint width of 1/4" (6.4mm) or 4 times the anticipated movement. To control sealant depth and promote proper adhesion, we recommend using closed-cell backer rod or reticulated polyethylene backer rod as joint backing. In cases where backer rod cannot be used, adhesive-backed polyethylene tape (bond breaker tape) is recommended to prevent three-sided adhesion.
