The Speidel Plastic Fermenter is a well-made and durable product that is good for any type of fermentation. It has a wide mouth, making it easy to clean, and a tight lid with a hidden drain valve. However, some customers have had issues with the lid, particularly the outer tightening strap and rubber gasket falling out, making it difficult to open and close without first removing the airlock. Additionally, some have found that the lack of volume markings is annoying. The fermenter is relatively heavy when full, so some customers suggest putting it on a pot dolly for easy mobility. Overall though, many customers have enjoyed the increased headroom and ability to punch down skins. There have been no issues with staining from must and it retains some heat during fermentation. It is important to note that the 60L size is best for 14-14.5 gallon batches rather than 15.5 gallon batches.
