The X728 is a well-designed UPS for Raspberry Pi users with good documentation available. However, it can only hold two batteries and does not support hot-swapping. The X728 has an 8 amp max current with seamless power transfer and can use any 18650 lithium battery without a built-in protection circuit. The RTC function runs on the 18650 batteries, and the X728 has a port for an external power switch and additional lithium batteries. One customer is disappointed that the GPIO header is not in the standard location, limiting stacking ability, but appreciates seamless power transfer. Another had difficulty setting up and discovered they needed an extra part to correctly mate with the Pi, only discovered after research. Some customers report experiencing quality control issues, e.g., broken connectors, boards, etc. One review writes that it caught on fire despite what seemed like good build quality.
